Hasad- Evil Eye and Envy

by Yahya Adel Ibrahîm

On the authority of Abu Huraira (ra) who said: The Messenger of Allah (saw) said

“Do not be envious of one another; do not artificially raise prices against one another; do not hate one another; do not turn one’s back on each other; and do not undercut one another in business transactions. And be, [O] servants of Allah, brethren. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He does not wrong him. He does not fail him [when he needs him]. He does not lie to him. And he does not show contempt for him. Piety is here”

- and he pointed to his chest three times.

“It is enough of evil for a person to hold his brother Muslim in contempt. All of a Muslim is inviolable to another Muslim: his blood, his wealth and his honor.”

Recorded by Muslim.

...If the Muslims were to apply the sublime teachings of this hadith, there would be a great change and improvement in their interrelationships and love for one another.

This disease of the heart and the sin which is known as hasad was one of the first sins ever committed. It was one of the main things that drove Satan away from his Lord. In fact, two aspects drove Satan to the horrendous situation that he is in today: pride and envy....[See al-Baqara 109].

According to ibn Taimiya, hasad is always accompanied by hatred. This is one of the evils of hasad. First the person is envious of the other person. After some time, this envy develops into hatred. [Ibn Taimiya, Majmu vol. 10, p. 127. Also see al-Duhami, Al-Hath ala Salamah al-Sadr (Riyadh: Dar al-Watn, 1416 A.H.), pp. 38-39.]

Hasad is a kind of opposition or discontent with what Allah has decreed...he is putting his religion into a dangerous and precarious position. He is practically declaring himself a better decision maker than Allah. [Ibn Uthaymin, Sharh Riyadh, vol. 4, p. 704.]

The Messenger of Allah (saw) said,

“Iman and hasad do not gather together in the heart of a slave [of Allah].”

[Recorded by al-Nasai. According to al-Albani, it is sahih. See al-Albani, Sahih al-Jami, vol. 2, p. 1262.]

According to ibn Uthaymin, one of the strong signs that a person is inflicted with the disease of hasad is that he always tries to conceal the virtues and goodness of others. He does not like it when others talk about the good that a person has done. He remains silent and pretends like he does not know of the good that the other one has done. A true believer who is free of hasad likes it when good things are said about others and when the good deeds of others are appreciated and spoken about...He has no envy in his heart for what Allah has bestowed upon the others and, therefore, he spreads that good news to others. [Ibn Uthaymin, Sharh Riyadh, vol. 4, p. 707.] This sign that ibn Uthaymin has explicitly mentioned should be considered a type of subtle sign that people may not notice in themselves. They must take note of this sign and repel it as quickly as possible as it is a stepping stone to the greater forms of hasad.
With respect to that feeling of hasad, people can be divided into the following categories:

  1. There are some people who actively work to remove that bounty from the other person, without necessarily destroying the bounty itself. By their speech and their actions they will wrongly do whatever they can to bring an end to the other person’s blessing from Allah.
  2. There are others who do not just seek to remove that bounty from the other person, but they also work to get the bounty for themselves.
  3. The worst are those who simply wish to destroy the bounty, regardless of whether they themselves get it or if it is simply destroyed. They only want to destroy that blessing because it was not given to them in the first place.
  4. There are those who cannot remove the feeling of envy from their souls. They cannot control it but they do not like it and wish they could remove it. Those people, Allah willing, are not sinful for their state that they cannot control. According to ibn al-Qayyim, the evil of hasad comes about when the person acts upon his hasad, even if just in his heart. This is why Allah guides the Muslims not to simply seek refuge of the envious one, but to seek refuge of the envious one when he is being envious. Allah says, “From the evil of the envious one when he envies” (al-Falaq 5).[Quoted in al-Salihi, vol. 6, p. 529.]
  5. There are also those who, although they do not act upon their hasad, willingly have thoughts of envy, are pleased with them and continue to think in such a manner while putting up no resistance to such evil thoughts as removing blessings from one’s brother. This person is like a person who is dead set upon committing a sin. There is a difference of opinion among the scholars concerning whether this kind of person is a sinner or not. Al-Haitami says that such a person is definitely a sinner. [Al-Haitami, Fath, p. 249.] Ibn Rajab, furthermore, points out that such a person is rarely safe from doing some wrong act against his brother out of spite and envy. Therefore, in the end, he may definitely become sinful in action, without question. [Ibn Rajab, Jami, vol. 2, p. 262.]
  6. Another group of people recognize the hasad that exists within them. They do their best to remove that hasad from themselves and to treat the one they are envious of in the best possible fashion. They pray for the person; they tell others of his goodness and of the bounties that Allah has bestowed upon him. They remove that hasad to the extent that they love their Muslim brother and they love that Allah has blessed him and bestowed him and bestowed His bounties upon him. This category of people are among the people of the highest level of faith, they love for their brothers what they love for themselves. [Ibn Rajab, Jami, vol. 2, p. 263.]

  1. Hadith on Hasad from al-Bukhari
  2. Volume 4, Book 55, Number 590:
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:The Prophet used to seek Refuge with Allah for Al-Hasan and Al-Husain and say: "Your forefather (i.e. Abraham) used to seek Refuge with Allah for Ishmael and Isaac by reciting the following: 'O Allah! I seek Refuge with Your Perfect Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and from every evil, harmful, envious eye.' "

    Narrated 'Aisha:

The Prophet ordered me or somebody else to do Ruqya (if there was danger) from an evil eye.

The Occupy Movement Led by Whom??

[2:276] Those who devour interest do not rise except as rises one whom Satan has smitten with insanity. That is because they say: ‘Trade also is like interest;’ whereas Allah has made trade lawful and made interest unlawful. So he to whom an admonition comes from his Lord and he desists, then will that which he received in the past be his; and his affair is with Allah. And those who revert to it, they are the inmates of the Fire; therein shall they abide.

[2:277] Allah will abolish interest and will cause charity to increase. And Allah loves not anyone who is a confirmed disbeliever and an arch sinner.

[2:278] Surely, those who believe and do good deeds, and observe Prayer and pay the Zakat, shall have their reward from their Lord, and no fear shall come on them, nor shall they grieve.

[2:279] O ye who believe! fear Allah and relinquish what remains of interest, if you are believers.

[2:280] But if you do it not, then beware of war from Allah and His Messenger; and if you repent, then you shall have your original sums; thus you shall not wrong, nor shall you be wronged.

[2:281] And if any debtor be in straitened circumstances, then grant him respite till a time of ease. And that you remit it as charity shall be better for you, if only you knew.

Things do not change; we change.

Henry David ThoreauWalden (1970)
US Transcendentalist author (1817 - 1862)

"Allah does not Change a condition Until people change what is inside themselves!"

Rather than listing demands, we critics of concentrated wealth and power in the United States can dig in and deepen our analysis of the systems that produce that unjust distribution of wealth and power. This is a time for action, but there also is a need for analysis. Rallying around a common concern about economic injustice is a beginning; understanding the structures and institutions of illegitimate authority is the next step. We need to recognize that the crises we face are not the result simply of greedy corporate executives or corrupt politicians, but rather of failed systems. The problem is not the specific people who control most of the wealth of the country, or those in government who serve them, but the systems that create those roles. If we could get rid of the current gang of thieves and thugs but left the systems in place, we will find that the new boss is going to be the same as the old boss.Rather than listing demands, we critics of concentrated wealth and power in the United States can dig in and deepen our analysis of the systems that produce that unjust distribution of wealth and power. We have to let go of self-indulgent notions of American exceptionalism -- the idea that the United States is a unique engine of freedom and democracy in the world and therefore a responsible and benevolent empire. Empires throughout history have used coercion and violence to acquire a disproportionate share of the world’s resources, and the U.S. empire is no different.

Much of the good deeds (i.e. prayers, giving charity, fighting in the cause of Allah, reciting the Holy Quran, enjoining the good and forbidding the evil …etc,) which have their rewards multiplied in these days.

The Muslim should observe Eid prayer in its place and attend the ceremony, which is after the prayer, and take lessons from it. Moreover, he has to know the wisdom of Eid prayer and know that it is a day of gratitude and doing good deeds, it is not a day of evil or season for committing sins.

Sacrificing the animals should be done on the Day of Sacrifice (10th of Dhul-Hijja) and on the days of Tashriq (11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul-Hijja). It is the Sunnah of our father, Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when Allah ransomed his son with a great sacrifice. And it has been reported that “The Prophet sacrificed with his own hands two horned full grown rams reciting the name of Allah and glorifying Him (saying Allahu Akbar). He placed his foot on their sides (while sacrificing)” [Agreed Upon]

The truth behind Arab Revolutions and protests in Muslim countries!

Allahu Arkbar!

The first picture is a magnet in the shape of a cube with iron fillings scattered around it. The magnetic field causes the iron fillings to arrange themselves into that pattern.

We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and in their ownselves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Quran) is the truth. Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a Witness over all things? [41:53]

Knowledge

Imaam Sufyaan did not believe that a student of knowledge should dedicate himself to spreading knowledge, particularly when he was not in demand and when a sufficient number of scholars were available to the people. He felt that a student of knowledge should dedicate all of his time to the pursuit of knowledge, and that he should disseminate knowledge only after he gains expertise in a particular field. Al-Mahdee Abu ‘Abdullaah reported that he once heard Sufyaan say:

“The first stage of knowledge is silence; the second is listening and memorizing; the third is applying what one learned; and the fourth is teaching and spreading the knowledge that one learned.”

The profound wisdom contained in this advice makes it deserving of being taught to all students of knowledge, and even being written in gold. In a similar vein, Ath-Thauree once said:

“Whoever relates Ahaadeeth before there is a need for him to do so, will, in the end, suffer humiliation.”

Path to God

by Prophetic Guidance on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 2:15pm

When one finally acknowledges God as one's Lord and Master, one is entering, as it were, into a contract with God, a covenant which excludes all other beings and makes Him all in all. Then it is around Him alone that all one's thoughts and emotions will revolve; it is in Him alone that one will place complete trust. With the passage of time it will be to no-one but the Almighty that all one's hopes, fears and supplications will be addressed.

There is no-one - great or small - who does not have a focus of attention and activity in his life. For some, the household and family hold the central position, while for others it is business and money-making. Yet for others, the preoccupations of political leadership are all that matter. Many base their entire lives on dreams of power and prestige but, whatever the sources of human satisfaction, if a man does not live for his Lord, his life will be one of the most abysmal ignorance and vacuity. He will have built himself a house of straw, to be carried away by the merest puff of wind. It is only when he strenuously pulls himself out of his mundane existence, and begins to live for his Creator that he will discover what in essence his true life ought to be.

It is only then that he will understand his Maker's intentions, and realize that he is now in possession of that divine support without which, not only he, but the entire universe would collapse. Once he has achieved that state, he will think of God day and night, as he sleeps and as he awakens, and will not take the slightest initiative without first putting his trust in God. It will be for God and God alone that he will speak or remain silent.

Faith can be likened to the electric current which lights up the factory and sets all machines in motion. When faith comes to a man, it is like the arrival of the electric current from the power house - his soul is ablaze with light, his heart throbs faster with devotion, and a new fire - zeal burns within him; his entire being is stirred with a longing for his Lord. This human being, born of his mother's womb, is born once again from the womb of faith.

When two people love one another, they remain with each other mentally and emotionally, even if they are thousands of miles apart. Physical separation does nothing to impair the quality of their attachment for each other, and, in each and every thing, they see a likeness of the beloved's face. A similar emotional bond links the true believer with God, so that when confronted with the vastness of space, he will behold, not emptiness, but the greatness of the Lord. In the fury of the tempest he will see the glory of his Maker.

When birds sing, he will hear divine melodies, and when the sun peeps over the horizon, he will experience its warmth and light like a favor from his Lord. The sight of the beautiful foliage of the trees will make him feel that God has spread out the story of His creation before him in every leaf, twig and bud. The merest breath of wind in his face will make him feel that he has come closer to God.

In fact, at every instant, the believer in God is bathing in a divine ocean of unfathomable depths. Each experience serves to strengthen his bond with his Lord, Allah, the Majestic, the Supreme.

To believe in God is to have faith in the One who is the Creator, Master and Sustainer of the Universe. It is He who has fashioned all things; there is nothing which can function except by virtue of His power; without Him, nothing can even begin to exist. Faith awakens human consciousness to this great truth and man, in his new-found awareness, sees himself as the slave of the Almighty. All things appear to him as manifestations of the Lord and, whatever it falls to his lot to receive, he cherishes as a divine gift. He is unceasing in his praise and remembrance of the Lord.

The individual who is thus imbued with faith is not negligent in the way he lives on earth, remaining alert to every opportunity of coming closer to his Lord, for he is ever aware of the many blessings showered on him by his Creator. For instance, when his fatigue of the previous day has been banished by a good night's rest, he expresses his profound gratitude for this miracle called sleep. Without sleep one would go mad and soon die.

When he sees the darkness of the night dispelled by the rising sun, he exclaims quite involuntarily: "Blessed be the One who has created light! Without light the entire world would be plunged into a sea of pitch darkness!" Just the satisfaction of his hunger and the quenching of his thirst flood his whole being with a sense of gratitude! Amazed at the miracles of food and water, he falls to wondering what state mankind would be reduced to, were it not for such blessings sent down by the Almighty.

When the believer is hurt, it is to God that he calls out for comfort and consolation; when he is in distress, it is to God that he turns for help. Whenever he has stood to gain, he is ever-mindful of the fact that this is part of the Lord's bounty, and is moved to offer Him his heartfelt gratitude. Should he incur a loss, he bows to the reality that all things happen at the will of God. He does not become arrogant when showered with blessings, neither is he driven to despair by the adversity of conditions. The strength of his attachment to his Lord is so great that not even the most wonderful of attachments to another human being can impair it. Neither can any greater or lesser degree of self-interest divert him from his duty to the Almighty.

From time to time, important scientific discoveries are made by brilliant minds aided by sophisticated apparatus - the gravitational force of the earth and cosmic rays being two of the better known. But although their impact is very great in the realms of science, they do not saddle either the discoverers, or the recipients of their new-found knowledge, with any significant moral responsibilities. Nor do they bring any keener awareness of the ultimate reality. No matter how scientifically important they may seem as forms of enlightenment, they cannot compare with the discovery of God.

Discovering God means arriving at the source of all strength and wisdom. It is the meeting of the soul with the one who is all-hearing, all-seeing and all-knowing. With the discovery of our Maker comes the consciousness that He has not created this universe in vain. How could such a great universe for ever remain a mystery? Is it within the realms of possibility that its meaning should never become manifest? In a universe controlled by a God who is both omniscient and omnipotent, this is simply inconceivable.

To one who has made the discovery of faith, the certainty inevitably comes that God, who had hitherto directed the world from behind the scenes, will stand forth in all His glory, to be emblazoned on every cloud, crag and pinnacle, on every blade, leaf and twig, on every heart, body and soul. On that day, doubts and differences will be banished forever, and the truth will belong to all. This conviction brings the believer to the further conclusion that when the Creator and Master of the Universe ultimately takes on a visible form before all His creatures, this manifestation will have direct, personal repercussions on every human soul.

It will not be an event which can be viewed dispassionately as if it were just another natural phenomenon like the rising of the sun or the waxing and waning of the moon, bearing no direct relation to the moral aspect of our lives: it will be an awesome event - the manifestation of a Being, a Power, who is not only possessed of a limitless knowledge of all things, but who is both Reckoner and Retributor. When the Lord of the Universe makes himself manifest, all of His creation will arise from the dead to await His judgment. Those who have rebelled against Him, and those who have thought fit to worship only themselves, will on that day be like men of straw; they will be brought low, lower than the most groveling of insects. On the contrary, those who have believed in God, devoting their entire lives to Him, will find themselves immediately raised to a superior position.

During the millennia on earth when God chose to remain concealed those who were not faithful to Him were free to revel in their apostasy. But when God reveals Himself to them, they will realize how ill-used their freedom was and how abysmal their failure in the eyes of their Maker. It will only be those who remained faithful to Him, invisible as He then was who will find themselves crowned with success in the After-life. God's manifesting Himself will mark the beginning of a new and perfect world, in which those who were faithful to Him will lead a life of everlasting bliss, and in which those who rebelled against him will be relegated to eternal punishment.

Whenever a human being finally grasps this reality, he trembles in fear of God. He cries out to his Maker, "Lord! Save me from disgrace on that day when you appear in all Your Power and Glory! When I stand helpless before You on that day, only You will hold the scales of justice in your hand; only you shall be the Possessor of power."

The very act of having faith in God entails acceptance of the Prophet as His Apostle. This is of the greatest importance, for the moment a man discovers God as a live and conscious Being, he needs to understand what God wants of him; he may garner indications from his own inner nature and from the world all around him, but he needs someone to spell out the Lord's message to him in quite unmistakeable terms. In particular, he does not wish to be left in any doubt as to the events of the Last Day, and who is better to explain them to him in advance than God's very own Prophet?

It is exactly at this crucial, questing stage of his spiritual development that the words of the Prophet resound in his ears, "I am God's servant and His Apostle, The Lord has sent me to bring guidance to mankind. Come to me and hear the message of God."

The genuine seeker of the truth will have little difficulty in recognizing the Prophet's call, for he will already have broken down the walls of prejudice and indifference which confine the ignorant and the complacent within their cell of spiritual darkness. The truth-seeker will recognize the word of God, as His Prophet brings it to him, just as a child recognizes his own mother's voice. Through the words of the Prophet, he comes truly to know God.

His soul blossoms at the very sound of them in the way that drought stricken land puts forth green shoots as the blessed rain falls from the heavens. His whole inner being becomes radiant as if bathed in a divine light. His discovery of God is raised to an infinitely higher plane of illumination by his discovery of God's Prophet.

The Prophet is neither an angel nor any other kind of supernatural being, having been born into this world of a human mother, just like any of his fellow men. What truly distinguishes him from the rest of mankind is his having been chosen by God as His messenger. In the Prophet, God saw a man in whom the fires of human nature burnt bright, and in whom there was no contradiction of thought, word and deed. In the forty years before he attained Prophethood, he had never once betrayed a trust. He was strictly honest in his dealings, true to his word, and deeply compassionate towards the human beings all around him. Most important of all, he had a profound desire for the truth, which went far and beyond all craving for profit.

In Muhammad the son of Abdullah (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him), God created a pure soul, untarnished by self-interest, and totally uncompromising on the question of right and wrong.

He saw in him a man selflessly devoted to the discharge of his duties, and one who would never stoop to idolatrous beliefs. Most important, God had found in this desert Arab a genuine seeker of the truth. It could only be such as he who would appreciate to the full the divine revelations with which he would be entrusted, and who would be fully alive to the resultant obligation. It was precisely because this most perfect of men had shown himself to be so consistently virtuous over the first forty years of his life that God chose him as His final Prophet for all mankind.

During the ensuing twenty-three years of his Prophethood, Muhammad proved that God's trust in him had not been misplaced, for he carried out his Prophetic duties with the highest imaginable degree of integrity. There could have been no conceivably superior fulfillment of the responsibilities entailed by Prophethood.

It is thanks to the Prophet that God's Book, as communicated to him by the Archangel, has been handed down to us in pure and pristine form, thus making it possible for us to find in His Scriptures a clear description of all those qualities and observances which our Lord requires of us. In the Qur’an, God converses with us in human language, and, if His words are as clear to us today as at the time of their utterance, it is because of the special care taken by the Prophet and his companions to ensure that God's Book would be preserved in its original form, unmarred by interpolation, alteration or omission.

Not only did the Prophet receive God's Revelations, but he also practiced them to perfection throughout his entire life. He thus provided a living example of how Qur’anic teaching should be followed. It was easy for people to see and understand the examples he set, for he lived the life of any normal family man, mixing freely with people in the town and market place. Like any other ordinary individual he had friends and enemies, and knew what it meant to will or lose, fail or succeed. But what made him different from the ordinary run of men was the sublimity of his character. No matter what situation he found himself in, he always set a shining example. From a position of affluence and security he was reduced to suffering poverty, hunger, pain and rejection - all in the attempt to preach the Faith.

But no matter how adverse the circumstances in which he found himself, he never failed to evince this perfection of character. Conversely, when he rose from the level of an ordinary man to become a judge and a ruler, having ultimately set up the pillars of Islam, this excellence of disposition never left him for an instant. Indeed, his entire life was marked by such divine characteristics that it has become a model for mankind for all eternity.

When we go to meet our Lord, we earnestly pray that we shall find favor in His eyes, hoping to live in the Hereafter in the Gardens of everlasting delight. But if we are to merit this fate, we must ascertain from the Qur’an what God commands, and must observe from the life of the Prophet how God's commands are to be carried out. We must then mould our lives on the divine injunctions recorded in the Quran and on the supreme example of the Prophet's life. This is the true path for great and small alike. Any other course will lead to perdition.

The Night of Power

  Fatwa No : 83532

Signs of the night of Power

  Fatwa Date : Ramadhaan 27, 1422 / 13-12-2001

Question

What are some of the signs of the night of Power?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Laylatu Al-Qadr or the Night of Decree is not known. But it is definitely one of the last ten nights of Ramadhan. There are signs which if they appear are indications that the night has arrived. Some signs appear during the night itself, and others may occur the following morning. Signs that occur during that night are described in the following Hadith. Ahmad reported from Ubadah Ibn Al Samit that he said that the Prophet said: "The Night of Al Qadr is a clear and shining night as if there were a bright moon in it. It is calm and tranquil. It is neither cold nor hot and no shooting stars are thrown in it till the morning" .

Imam Muslim also reported rom Abu hurairah who said: "We were talking about Laylat al-Qadr in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ( sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention )) and he said: "He who amongst you remembers (the night) when the moon arose and it was like a piece of plate (at the fag end of the month in a state of waning)". Some scholars say that this means that it is in the last part of the month of Ramadhan.

Signs that come the next day are the sun appears the following morning, white and without rays (beamless).
Allah knows best.

The Night of Power is a very important occasion in Islam. Everyone is asked to live it and to enjoy it. This Night is a night of Mercy, a night of Blessing, a night of Peace and a night of Guidance. It is a night of Unification between the finite world of ours and the Infinite Universe of the Unseen.

Anyone who is interested in attaining the Mercy of Allah will strive very hard to look for the Night of Power. Anyone who is interested in receiving the blessings of Allah on the Blessed Night will work very hard to enjoy the Night of Power. Anyone who is interested in attaining peace of mind, peace of body and peace in society, he has to look for this Night and to live it.

May Allah give us the strength, the power, the courage and the effort to do our best to obey Allah and to follow His teachings. May Allah guide us and may Allah strengthen our Iman. May Allah help us to live another year with sincerity and devotion. May Allah make us realize that one year of our life is over and that we are one year closer to our graves.

The Secrets of Allah's Name-Ya Salaamu to cure sickness

The name-Ya Salaamu

From the 99 names of Allah the Name  As-salaam

As-Salam- The Peace, The Tranquillity, The Source of Wholeness and Well-Being

The Source of Peace. He who frees His servants from all danger and obstruction. He greets His fortunate servants in Paradise. The Flawless, The Source of Wholeness and Well-Being, The One who is free from every imperfection. The Giver Of Peace Or One Who is Immune From All Distress The One who is free from every imperfection.

(Read Ya Salaamu 125,000 to cure incurable diseases like Cancer or any other sickness)

The secret of reciting any of the Names of Allah is 1st recite 11 time any salawat(durood shareef) then the Name in this example Ya Salaamu and finally finish as you started with 11 time salawat(durood shareef)

YA SALAMU: O Source of Peace! If this is repeated 160  times over someone who is ill, it will help the patient to recover. Anyone who recites this Ism continuously. Allah will protect him from all calamities and maladies.

If said 115 times and blown on a sick person. Insha-Allah will restore his health. If any person reads this name as much as he can he will always be prevented from all mishappenings and if a person reads this name 115 times and prays for an unhealthy person that person will get good health.

YA SALAMU: O Source of Peace
The One who is perfect, whole, prosperous and content.
The One who is the source of all peace, wholeness and safety.
The One who has rendered all of creation to be perfect, whole, prosperous and content.
The One whose creation is free of imperfections, free of faults and free of error.

From the root s-l-m which has the following classical Arabic connotations:

to be peaceful, quiet, tranquil, content, friendly, reconciled to be free from imperfections, free from faults, complete, whole, sound to be safe, secure, well, healthy, prosperous.

This name is used in the Qur'ân. For example, see 59:23

This ancient Semitic root of s-l-m implies every manner of wholeness, completeness and prosperity.

Many seek peace by struggling, battling and trying to impose their will on others, yet external peace will only prevail as a reflection of inner peace.

The only path to outer peace is awareness of the tranquil depths of inner peace, and the only source of such inner peace is the One known as as-Salaam.

According to Râghib the word Islam, which arises form this same s-l-m root, means to enter into salm... which means to enter into peace, or to enter into wholeness. That is, the word Islam means to be at peace with or reconciled with the ways and decrees of Allah, and is often described as self-resignation, surrender or submission to the will of Allah.

The meaning of the Word S-L-M

SLM is also the root for the words salim, which means;
'safe,' saleem, 'perfection,' sallama, 'salvation,'salama, 'blameless' and salaam, 'well being.'
Using all of these words gives an expanded meaning to the word Islam: 'when one surrenders to the will of Allah, as revealed by His Prophet (saw), one will find salvation, perfection, safety and well being.'

The word salaam is often translated as 'peace' but this is only one of several meanings. Its primary meaning is actually 'well being'.

It can also mean health, soundness, wholeness, safety and serenity.

A common Arabic greeting is as-sallam alaykum, which is usually translated as 'peace be upon you,' but its extended meaning is 'may well being, wholeness and tranquility be upon you-(all)'.

(the ending Kum is a plural because when you greet a Muslim even if its one person you give him/her salaam and  their two angels salaam too on their shoulders, thus Kum is a Plural ending and from this one can clearly see our  Deen-'way of life'  acknowledges the Unseen-Ghayb.  Because the Angels are from the world of the Unseen-Ghayb and by acknowledging them in our salaam we need to realise our  Deen-'way of life' is deeply rooted in the Unseen-Ghayb.  Why give something greetings if you cant see it, whats the point?. The point is some (few) people can see the angels but most of us just cant because our inner eye of the heart-Baseerah
(the baseerah is mentioned in the Quran too) is veiled.  But how many of us ponder on the words we say each day giving the unseen salaam.)
and
The guiding principle in worshipping God was measured on one’s purity of heart as the Qur’an says

“Qalbun Salim” (soundness of heart)

Ramadan in Africa

Fasting during Ramadan is strictly adhered to in countries where there's a large Islamic population. Throughout North Africa the vast majority of the population will fast, this includes Morocco, Western Sahara, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, and Libya. In East and West Africa the predominantly Islamic countries include Djibouti, Sudan, Gambia, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Somalia. Zanzibar (Tanzania), and Kenya's coastal towns (Mombasa, Malindi, Lamu), also have large Islamic populations.

Muslims account for over half the population in as many as 28 African countries including Nigeria and Ethiopia which given the predominance of churches everywhere you would traditionally think of it as a Christian country. Muslims in Africa account for about a third of all Muslims world wide and Islam is also the fastest growing religion in Africa.

Would you skip lunch to sponsor an iftar for a starving family? As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, millions of Muslims are living without food and water in the Horn of Africa region. According to aid agencies, up to 12 million people living in remote areas across Ethiopia , Kenya and Somalia are faced with starvation.

Most of the affected areas are inhabited by Muslims, which would make the month of fasting even tougher on them if aid agencies and well-wishers don’t intervene swiftly!

As the number of hungry people rises, more resources will be needed to meet the need for food assistance. The WFP estimates that around US$477 million is needed to address hunger needs in the region through to the end of the year.

Currently, it has a 40% shortfall in funding, with about US$190 million still needed. The mainly Muslim East and Horn of Africa region, the focus now is on Muslim organisations to be at the forefront of lending a hand.

Some are are now calling on Muslims to launch a campaign where they skip lunch and donate those funds to feed a hungry family for iftar as their effort to ease the famine. The call comes as Muslims prepare to fast from dawn to dusk in order to physical feel the pangs of hunger felt by those less fortunate and is a month characterised by the spirit of generosity and compassion.

Meanwhile, the African Union called Tuesday on the international community to come to the aid of Somalia, where one in three people are suffering from the combined effect of unrest and drought. "Close to three million people, that is one in three Somalis, are in need of humanitarian assistance," said the AU in a statement. "This has led to major displacements into urban areas, in particular Mogadishu, as well as in neighbouring countries.

My God, they make up Stories to Keep the Lie alive!

“We saw around 50 federal agents. They were all dressed
in black. They were in the dumpsters even. I came out of
the car to see what was going on. They pointed guns at us.
They put Dritan in handcuffs. They had me in handcuffs.
They had dogs trained on us, foaming at their mouths,
which was scary because we couldn’t protect ourselves.
The nieces and nephews were just in the truck crying. I
was 15. I thought I was in a dream when that was going
on, during the arrest.”
Burim Duka, age 20 (brother of Eljvir, Dritan and Shain

15th Night of Shabaan

Abstracted from the writings of:
Sheikh Maulana Mohammed Ilyas Attar Qadri

Master of Masters, Prophet Muhammad (Swall Allahu Alaihi Wasallam) said that whoever fasts three days in the month of Shabaan and at the time of if’tar (breaking-fast at sunset) recites 3 times darood [salawat] on me, his sins will be forgiven and his provisions will be amplified and on the Day of Judgment he will enter Paradise riding on a heavenly female camel.

Sayiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayidunna Esa (Jesus Alaihis’salam) passed by a mountain and there he saw a white stone. He started looking at it with awe. Allah revealed his message [wa’hy] on his messenger (alaihis’salaam), “Shall I disclose for you a thing stranger than this” “Surely!” he answered. So then that stone split and from it emerged an old man, with a green walking stick in his hand and pointing to the grapes vines said that I get my sustenance from here.

Sayediunna Esa (Alihis’salaam) asked him, “How long have you been busy in worshipping Allah in this stone” The man replied “for 400 years.” Sayidunna Esa (Alaihi’salaam) said to Allah, “I think no one else would have worshipped like him.” Allah revealed, “whoever of the nation [ummah] of My Beloved Prophet (Swall Allahu Alaihi Wasallam) performs 2 cycles [raka’] of prayer on the 15th night of Shabaan is better than this 400 years of worship.” {Nuzhatul Majalis}

Mother of the believers, Sayidatuna A’isha (May Allah be pleased with her) says, I missed the Prophet (Swall Allau Alaihi Wasallam) one night so I went out to al-Baqi’ (graveyard, and found him). He said: “Were you afraid that Allah would wrong” I said: “O Messenger of Allah, I thought that you might have gone to visit one of your [other] wives.” He said: “Allah Glorious and Exalted descends to the nearest heaven on the night of mid-Shabaan (15th night) and He forgives more people than the number of hair on the hides of the flocks and herds of sheep of the tribe of Kalb. {Tirmidhi} It is recorded in books that the tribe of Kalb used to have the most number of sheep in Arabia, but some unfortunate people are still not forgiven on this night when Allah showers His mercy on mankind. Amongst them are 1) those who are habitual drinkers [alcoholics] 2) those who are habitual adulterous 3) those who are disobedient to their parents 4) those who break family ties 5) those who are mischief-spreaders and, 6) those who are back-bitters. In another narration mischief-spreader is replaced with those who make pictures. {Mukashifatul Quloob}.

In other narrations those who practice magic, those who eat interest, those who lower their pants below their ankles with pride, those who start a fight between two Muslims, those who bear malice (have hatred for another Muslim) in their hearts without a lawful cause are also not forgiven on this blessed night unless they repent sincerely and also ask for forgiveness from fellow Muslims and make peace.

In a long Prophetic narration, narrated in Ghunya tut-Talibin, the Messenger of Allah said, that is the night of mid-Shabaan (15 night) when Allah (Exalted is He) arranges the affairs of the year. He transfers [some of] the living to the list of dead, and records those who will make pilgrimage [Hajj] to the House of Allah that year, neither adding one too many nor leaving a single one of them out.”

Once Leader of Believers, Sayidunna Omar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah be pleased with them) was busy praying extra [na’fl salah/namaz]. He lifted his head and saw a green note, whose light [glow] spread till the sky and it read “This is a note of forgiveness from the Owner Allah Almighty (Exalted is He) to His servant Omar bin Abdul Aziz. (Tafseer Roh-ul-Bayan)

It is recorded from the Friends of Allah [Auliya-Allah] to pray 6 cycles of ritual prayer [raka’] after the Maghrib prayer. In the first two raka’ add with the intention that with its blessing extend life with harmony. Next two for the protection from misfortunes and evil, and next two so that may Allah make us dependant on Him and no one else. After every two cycles [raka’] recite 21 times Surah Ikhlas OR once Sura Yasin (chapter 36). Rather read both and gain mounts of rewards and then recite the Supplication of Shabaan (dua’ of Shabaan)

Spend the night, as much as possible, in worship and on the 15th of Shabaan fast. It is written in Anees-ul-Waezeen that whoever fasts on the fifteenth of Shabaan the fire of hell will not touch him.
Since the book of deeds is changed on the 15 night, if it is possible, also fast on the 14th so that the last day of the yearly deed book is spent fasting and the first day is spent fasting.

Native Americans

HIGH RESOLUTION TERRORISM EXPERTS POSTER LOADING

The important 1886 historical American war photograph of Geronimo and its headline connotation to "Homeland Security" and "Terrorism" has extreme deep-seated and inter-generational significance to the native indigenous peoples of our great country, the United States of America, USA.

Many brave Indian warriors, many beautiful Indian women and grandmothers, and many innocent Indian children did not survive the post European contact military incursions by Spanish-Mexican-British-French-American government soldiers and civilian militias that overran and blatantly stole their ancestral homelands, decimated their populations and literally sought to exterminate them from the Earth!

How do you mend a Broken Heart?

We all have experienced some type of devastating event, weather it is the death of a loved one, the lost of an important relationship, the lost of dreams, children, parent's , spouse or any object of adoration, a life changing event has occurred or will happen to the best of us!  We all can relate to the pain of lost, so what besides time, turns this around? First and foremost allow your self to grieve, don't expect this pain to vanish overnight!

Then, start to detach by giving in to thoughts that elevate and take you away from that which keeps you down.  Find those things that help you to feel positive, healthy mentally and spiritually. Walk, exercise, eat healthy meals, help someone less fortunate than your self.  Count your blessings and realize that this life is not permanent and we will eventually have to leave.

There is no greater benefit to a painful lost or separation than "Prayer" knowing that something is greater than our self and all that we experience helps us in ways we can't even imagine, believing in a "Loving God" that knows better than anyone else, what it is your experiencing, creates a window of relief for the broken hearted.

Rejoice in what you have and move forward in your planning for the future!  Then allow for set backs and do not dispare, life has points of rocky, shaky moments as well as beautiful moments of laughter and joy.  It is the contrast in life that teaches us what we need to know and pushes us to appreciate the good times and to be thankful.

These events teaches us, how so much in life is out of our control and no matter how hard we try, something will always go wrong and some things will always go right! Our purpose in this life is to worship God in good and bad times because He is the only constant Good..

When you look out of the window of faith you can see a field of flowers of hope, compassion, forgiveness and promise, that suffering in this life has an ultimate purpose and has an ending that is just and fare.

Endless Dissatisfaction

The state of being dissatisfied, unsatisfied, or discontented; uneasiness proceeding from the want of gratification, or from disappointed wishes and expectations.

This is the inevitable results of denial of a need to worship Allah, the Lord and creator of all that is seen and unseen!

Allah has created men and Jinn to worship Him in the manner He has prescribed!

“American Terrorism”,

Terroism Defined: the calculated use of violence or the threat of violence against civilians in order to attain goals that are either political, religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation, coercion or instilling fear!

As American As Apple Pie
WHITE RIOTS
ABy Dr. Gregory E. Brown, Director, BHS Inc.

Between 1824 and 1951 there were over 300 events classified as “White Race R
Between 1824 and 1951 there were over 300 events classified as “White Race Riots” in which entire white communities turned on and destroyed entire Black communities and  murdered Blacks in mass. There were 26 such major events and hundreds of smaller ones in major cities and towns across the US during the summer of 1919 alone. This period has been tagged by historians as “The Red Summer of 1919”,  because many of the events happened from May to October of that year and the blood of their victims literally painted the streets of America.

That year, tens of thousands of Black Americans were killed, maimed and 375,000  were made refugees, though never being given refugee status, all for economic, social, political and other reasons both real and imaginary. They even killed Blacks for recreation activities in rural areas in events called "Friday Night Boot Burnings" (the burning of a Black man at a stake or bonfire) or " Picnic" (a slang term for pick a nigger for lynching} Lynching became a common weekly event to kill the monotony of rural life. It was not uncommon for whites to eat, drink, dance and sing church songs as they created a sadistic festive atmosphere, while their victims suffered from torture. White men, men women and children all participated in what was best described by Ida B. Wells-Barnett as  " An orgy of murder and mayhem."

Many times whites massacred based purely on perceived notions and paranoia, such as in Helena and Phillips, Arkansas in 1919. The white landowners envisioned a Black union meetings was an organized uprising and Negros were planning to kill whites in mass at some future date. The reality was the Black farmers, sharecroppers' and farm workers held a meeting after forming a union to demand a fair accounting from the whites on their sharecropper accounts, after being cheated for years. They were armed and had no intention of disarming because of what happened in East St. Louis in 1917. When the sheriff attempted to serve a warrant as a pretext to investigating the union meeting, a gun fight ensued and the sheriff was killed and other whites were wounded.

The white landowners feeling depraved, feared a great financial loss and with bloodlust in their hearts over their dead friends, they hunted Blacks like dogs through the woods and killed 25 to 125 Blacks early in the manhunt. The best official death count came to 854. No on knows the actual number because of how the bodies were treated and disposed of. They wounded many hundreds more and caused every Black citizen in every surrounding county to flee for their lives too. Today, Blacks in Helena and Phillips County are now planning to seek reparations for their ordeal. They mage it perfectly clear, If you had a Black skin, you had two choices. You were either dead, or moving. Floaters (dead bodies in the river) were popping up daily for weeks after the riot was over. Again the national guard was called and again they joined the white rioters.

During the Red Summer Riots of 1919, a common characteristic in every case was the Black American was alone and helpless when it came to protecting or defending himself and his community. Many had assumed then, as we do now, that our government is supposed to protect us from invaders from within our borders and from foreign nations. THEY WERE DEAD WRONG!

After studying White Race Riots, collecting relics', investigating reports, reading hundreds of newspaper reports and first hand testimonials, I have determined based on the circumstances that Black Americans must protect and defend themselves from their countrymen. This assumption is based on the following findings:

1.    No government military branches where there to protect them. The National Guardsmen would join the rioters and shoot Blacks too. Many just looked the other way  because they hated "niggers" too. Or they came in time to put out fires, mostly in the white sections of town, or white owned rental properties in the Black neighborhood only.

 2.    The Police joined or aided the white rioters. Deputized white Policemen burned out women and children and used them for target practice, for sport and wager, as they threw them back into the flames that they attempted to escape. Police disarmed Blacks and stud back to let the white rioters do what they wanted without fear of justice or the law.

In the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921, police flew airplanes and dropped nitroglycerin and dynamite on 600 Black businesses, burned 1500 homes and destroyed a 35 square block area of the Black community of  Tulsa also known as the Greenwood District. It was so prosperous it was nationally known as Black Wall Street. The riot was intended to put Blacks back in their place.

 3.    The American Legion and the KKK and white military veterans and fraternal organizations offered their services in tracking down and killing Blacks. They often lead in mobs and initiated the riddling of many of their Black victims. ROTC cadets assisted in hunting, dragging, burning, killing and maiming during post war times.

 4.    In all cases not one white person was ever convicted of murdering a Black person regardless of how horrible their crimes. Hate was part of the fabric of white American society. They protected their "Supreme" status at all cost. Blacks had no value and no souls. Blacks had no rights. Blacks weren't people and in political discussions Blacks existence was  referred to as the "negro question". To the average whites ALL Blacks were niggers. In 1920 2 out of 10 whites in America were members of the KKK. Blacks were de-humanized so whites could commit any heinous act without guilt and with impunity. It's hard to kill one of Gods human beings, but easy to kill a thousand niggers.

 5.    In Detroit 1943, 4300 Federal Troops wounded 2500 Blacks after the last of the great white race riots. Police, local whites, National Guard and Federal troops turned on Black Detroit. Blacks were beaten openly in public by literally thousands of whites chasing and beating them while police searched and disarmed them to make them easy prey. The Detroit Police Department participated in many murders and freely participated in mayhem towards Blacks.

Every Black person in sight was searched and even their pocket knives were removed. Then they were left to the white rioters who in turn, maimed or murdered a totally defenseless victim.  Police were rerouting Blacks in motor vehicles to dead ends where white rioters where waiting to beat and murder them. Many Blacks had placed their faith in the hands of Police for protection, only to have that trust betrayed, and their lives exterminated.

 6.    The methods of murders in white race riots were similar in each case, which included but not limited to: Lynching, burning, castration, stoning, bullet riddling, just plain shot, dragged in the street, drowned, beat, punched, hit with assorted objects, heads split with an axe and more than can be imagined by any ungodly person. It was common for a single Black victim to incur all of the above forms of punishment from his fellow American. Bodies have been subjected to this type of treatment with as many as 100 plus individual whites to 1 Black victim. Many bodies were reported to be punished for hours after the victim was already dead.

 7.    They became merchants of the macabre as they cut up the victims bodies into parts for resale as, souvenirs, mementos, and mantle pieces. Black victims had hearts, lips, ears, fingers, spleen, liver, lungs, intestines, penis, hands, heads, scrotum and all other body parts and even the Black fetus was not spared.

A poor Black pregnant woman Mary Turner in Georgia, had her unborn child cut from her womb as she burned at the stake. While she was inflamed a white man stepped from the crowd, slit her stomach with his pocket knife, and when the fetus fell to the ground, he stomped it and said "One less nigger". Thousands of curbside spectators slapped their knees as they laughed in amusement.

Mary's crime: She had disputed the word of a white man that falsely accused her husband of murdering a white man in a dispute over money owed him by the white man. A shoot out ensued. The white man died in what otherwise was a fair fight. For her protest after they lynched her husband before her eyes, they tied her to a tree, poured gas on her, oil and set her on fire. After she writhed silently in the flames in defiance of the "mad and hungry dogs", she was doused a second time as white children danced and chanted in song and rhyme.

In the terms of property damage. Whole city blocks in Black communities have been burned to the ground and many Black property owners had to abandon their homes while running for dear life, with only the cloths on their backs, if they were lucky enough to live through home invasions, hails of bullets, and fire bombs during the initial attack. Many of the aftermaths resemble ground zero of a nuclear blast. In the Tulsa riot, you could see from one end of the Black business district, and see clear to the opposite side without the obstruction of your view by any physical objects. The land was totally  leveled for 3 miles through Black Tulsa.

The Seventy Major Sins in Islam – Al-Kaba’ir

- reprinted from TheModernReligion.com

The major sins are those acts which have been forbidden by Allah in the Quran and by His Messenger (SAW) in the Sunnah (practise of the Prophet), and which have been made clear by the actions of of the first righteous generation of Muslims, the Companions of the Prophet (SAW).
Allah Most High says in His Glorious Book:

If you avoid the major (part) of what you have been forbidden (to do), We will cancel out for you your (other) evil deeds and will admit you (to Paradise) with a noble entry. (al-Nisa 4:31)

Thus by this verse, Allah Most High has guaranteed the Garden of Paradise to those who avoid the major sins.
And Allah Most High also says:

Those who avoid the greatest of sins and indecencies, and forgive when they are angry (al-Shra 42:37) Those who avoid the greatest sins and indecencies, except for oversights, (will find that) surely your Lord is ample in forgiveness. (Al-Najm 53:32)

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The five [daily] prayers, Friday to Friday, and Ramadan to Ramadan make atonement for what has happenned since the previous one when major sins have been avoided.”

It is therefore very important to determine exactly what the greatest vices, technically called “the major sins” (Kaba’ir), are, in order that Muslims should avoid them.
There is some difference of opinion among scholars in this regard.

Some say these major sins are seven, and in support of their position they quote the tradition: “Avoid the seven noxious things”- and after having said this, the prophet (SAW) mentioned them: “associating anything with Allah; magic; killing one whom Allah has declared inviolate without a just case, consuming the property of an orphan, devouring usury, turning back when the army advances, and slandering chaste women who are believers but indiscreet.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas said: “Seventy is closer to their number than seven,” and indeed that is correct. The above tradition does not limit the major sins to those mentioned in it. Rather, it points to the type of sins which fall into the category of “major.”

These include those crimes which call for a prescribed punishment (HADD; plural, HUDUD), such as theft, fornication or adultery (ZINA), and murder; those prohibited acts for which a warning of a severe punishment in the Next is given in the Qur’an or the tradition; and also those deeds which are cursed by our Prophet (SAW). These are all major sins.

Of course, there is a gradation among them, since some are more serious than others. We see that the Prophet (SAW) has included SHIRK (associating someone or something with Allah) among them, and from the text of the Qur’an we know that a person who commits SHIRK will not his sin be forgiven and will remain in Hell forever.

Allah Most High says: Surely, Allah does not forgive associating anything with Him, and He forgives whatever is other than that to whomever He wills. (al-Nisa 4:48 and 116)
